Ceremony

I was asked yesterday about ceremony…

Our ancestors have been engaging in ceremony since the beginning of time.

Why? it is so important to take time to reconnect to love, offer humble gratitude, and set intention. Ceremony is such a powerful place to reconnect with Gaia, ourselves, and the unseen blessed beings/energies that surround each and every one of us- all of the time.

How does the word ‘ceremony’ make you feel?

It used to scare me….I felt it was such a huge and formal undertaking and… that I couldn’t do it by myself.

What a misconception!

I finally got over myself and began….

Before I started a hike, I would stop and ask for permission to walk upon the land. I would ask for the ability to be quiet enough to hear and see what was around me. I would place a few leaves of white sage where I began…. and upon my return, I would say thank you and give heartfelt gratitude for the journey. Again, placing a few leaves of white sage in offering to all that lived upon the path I walked.

The heartfelt joy and connection I found in doing this, naturally began to grow and expand through every avenue of my life. It has become second nature to pause and take time to feel and give thanks to being connected– multiple times a day.

Sometimes it looks as simple as me pressing my forehead to the ground or whispering loving phrases into water I am drinking. Other times I make a special journey to a place with a specific intention. These outings are powerful. It is not so much what I chose to do, but what I INTEND and how deeply I can FEEL into that.

To me, the most important thing about ceremony is to do it and FEEL IT. Whatever you are saying, intending, thanking…. you must really FEEL IT deep deep in your heart… for that is where the potency is!

There are so many plant essences that have been traditionally used in ceremony… Artemisia Vulgaris Linn, Balsam Copaiba, Cedar Leaf Thuja, Frakincense, Galbanum, Palo Santo, Rhododendron just to name a few….

But EVERY single essence can be used for ceremony and in ceremony. Each Deva is Divine LOVE and supports us upon that path. What really matters is who calls to you!
