Hugging Trees

Hugging Trees

April 10, 2018

I went to visit one of my best friends and greatest confidants this morning. I heard my heart calling to her and her calling to me. No iPhones needed. I slipped out of meditation a little early and drove down for a visit. She was there and available to share her Heart with me (as she always is). What a gift!

We didn’t exactly have morning tea together. For she is rooted on the edge of the beach park in 2 large trunks and the most exquisite array of “bed head” branches…tickling the blue of the sky. Ironwood (Casuarina equisetifolia) is her name. For me, we call each other via the Heart, not by spoken word.

I pressed my whole body against her in a huge hug, gently kissing her good morning and taking in her scent deeply. She is breathing into me and I into her. It makes me light headed. Her love, her power, our connection.

‘Are there people watching me love up this tree?’ If there are, I really hope curiosity wins out and they give it a try one day too!

The ocean has pulled the sand away exposing a good portion of her roots on one side. I ask, “Oh love, I see your roots are exposed…are you ok?”. She laughs and nods happily that I should notice and care. “Yes, yes, I am fine,” she replies. “My roots are exposed just like many humans right now, but not to worry, the sand will eventually wash back in…it is just the cycle”.

I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent with this beautiful being over the years. What I am always left imprinted with is her ability to be patient and grounded and rather unperturbed by anything… even all of the people that congregate beneath her without realizing she is alive and conscious.

She is so close to the ocean that her branches almost dangle above it at high tide. She is the ocean, the wind, the rain, the salt, the thunder, the lightning, the sun, the stars, the heat, the cold…. She embodies it all and is perfectly ok with ALL OF IT!

Ahhhh, the trees. Such remembrance of how to be ok with whatever is happening. Whether they are growing in the ground or have volunteered to inhabit their essence form. The trees are always willing to remind us to be rooted in thy self. Stand tall towards the sun and send your roots down to the center of the earth. Receive nourishment from everything around you and just flow with the changes… day to night, rain to sun, wind to calm….

I have been wearing a lot of Pine White (Pinus strobes) lately. I don’t have the opportunity to sit beneath her out in nature, but I do have the opportunity to commune with her in essence form. I speak to her just as I would any beloved. I told her I was writing a blog piece and asked if she would be willing to share about herself. This is what she gifted…

“I open the channel between Gaia and the Heavens. I pull you up!!!…encouraging you to open to your highest consciousness and awareness even though in physical form, you rest upon the earth. Can you know the Divine Love of the heavens and walk within that knowing, grounded on Gaia, in step of your journey?”

Aho Pine White! Aho Ironwood! Aho to all of the trees who bask Mother Earth in such beauty, compassion, and love. I am so grateful!

We can only give/share what we have. If we desire the world to be conscious, peaceful, and loving then it is our responsibility to create that world within our-self, FIRST.
If I am not making conscious choices, that is immediately reflected back to me. If I am not peaceful in my heart, all I see is chaos around me. If I do not fully love myself, I can never fully love another...

I met an antelope
In the woods
Him longingly
Walking a fence line
So wanting to be on the other side
I pause, watching…
Big open land just opposite
‘Why don’t you run free– that way?’
